The Window Game
Welcome to the view from Good Chance’s windows! During lockdown in summer 2020, Good Chance artists around the globe created and dreamed together. We looked out of our windows, writing about what we saw, what the sky was doing, what hope looks like to us…
We turned our lines into a huge poem of views, musings and beautiful window words from across the world - and you can to! Find out more below.

An Orchestra of Unexpected Sounds
To celebrate Refugee Week 2020, we published a collective poem titled An Orchestra of Unexpected Sounds. Written by 39 artists from 19 different countries playing The Window Game, it’s a poem of solidarity, of birdsong, of adventuring through the imagination and ultimately, of hope…
We also collaborated with the wonderful Greenside Primary School on their collective poem The Freedom to Be Heard, which you can read and hear in their beautiful film.
Below we also share some individual poems and window snaps from our artists, so you can see these vistas and hear the unique voices that make up our collective, united expression of hope.
And if you’d like to have a go yourself, you can! Play along with us!

JESÚS QUINTERO
TIJUANA HACE TEATRO, MEXICO
I’m part of a small theatre company called Tijuana Hace Teatro and I own a small theatre called Teatro Las Tablas. I wear lots of hats here in THT: actor, producer, designer, director, teacher…And I love them all! And one of the roles that I really loved playing last year, was welcome Good Chance to Tijuana, and introducing them to our community. We will wait for you!
Here are my Window Words. I just scrambled the pieces, and this is the outcome. It draws a smile on my face.

WINDOW WORDS FROM RACHEL LEONARD
PUPPETEER AND FRIEND OF GOOD CHANCE
I sit sandwiched between two worlds, each not a metre from my nose. This tranquil double vista is one of the many perks of my life in my floating cabin, rocked by breezes and lit by reflections.

WINDOW WORDS FROM RAMÓN VERDUGO LÓPEZ
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR TIJUANA HACE TEATRO
ONE OF THE CURATORS OF THE GOOD CHANCE DOME IN TIJUANA
“I'm writing from Tijuana in Mexico and I’m happy to share my window words to connect through the distance. I live in this Border where I try to create experiences to share with others through the Theatre, a bridge that has led me to meet amazing people, as the Good Chance Family with whom we have made a lovely connection. I wish for all to live new experiences very soon - because, as I have discovered in this game, hope is a colorful decision.”

EXTRACT OF WINDOW WORDS FROM BARTOLOLMEO BARTOLINI
PUPPETEER IN THE WALK
“I am a human with curly hair and a funny name, Bartolomeo Bartolini. During this quarantine I rediscovered my inner child. I have drawn with watercolour pencils (a gift from a dear friend of mine), I've written a diary and stories and reflections, I danced and sang before lunch with my window and door open, I dressed like a woman and it felt so good!
I got into the arms of Good Chance this past winter. I started 2020 with a breath of fresh air, being inspired by dozens of people from all around the world. I have shared and created with them the story of Amal, the huge little girl who always reminds me to walk towards what's a fair and better future.”

WINDOW WORDS FROM MYLÈNE GOMERA
PLAYS HELENE IN THE JUNGLE
“I had the loveliest time playing with & creating my window words. I am grateful for the opportunity. I hope you enjoy my final window words poem & also my just-snapped view outside my window.
I am an actress, a polyglot voiceover artist. I came to London in February to rehearse with our Good Chance Family for the role of HELENE in the play The Jungle, which was scheduled to be on at St. Ann's Warehouse in New York during this time. I am now quarantined here in the UK until the borders open and it is safe to return to my family.”
